Headway 10k sponsored by Jacksons back on the road again

The team at Jacksons is proud to be supporting the Headway 10k for the third year running as the race gets back on the road again this Summer.

The event went ‘virtual’ last year due to COVID restrictions, but the run is back for 2021 on Sunday 27th June, starting and finishing on Les Quennevais cycle track.

There are trophies and cash prizes up for grabs for the fastest men, women and teams, and all those taking part in the 10k race will receive a performance tee-shirt and bespoke medal, with a medal for all children in 3k kids fun run.

Commenting on the continued sponsorship, Andrew Searle, General Manager at Jacksons said, “We’re delighted to be sponsoring the Headway 10k again this year and to be supporting this fantastic local charity which provides essential services including a range of physical and cognitive rehabilitation programmes for islanders living with brain injuries. Like so many others, Headway has been hit hard by the effects of COVID 19 and we hope this event will help raise vital funds so that the charity can continue to provide these services.”

The charity has over 150 survivors of brain injury registered with them as members and up to 70 who access their services on a weekly basis.

Bryce Alford, Fundraising and Events Manager at Headway Jersey said, “We are really grateful to Jacksons for their continued support and to all those who sign up to race on 27th June who will be helping Headway to raise funds so we can continue to provide essential support, information and services to people in jersey who are affected by brain injury.”

“With just 300 places available for the 10k and 30 for the children’s race (aged 7-15), we’d urge runners to sign up quickly, so that they don’t miss out on a great race.”

Entrants are invited via the Race Nation page here https://race-nation.co.uk/register/headway-jersey-ltd/headway-jacksons-10k-race-2021

More information on Headway Jersey

It costs Headway £350k a year to provide all services. The charity suffered devastating losses of £150,000 in the past year due to COVID 19.

Headway Jersey has grown from very small beginnings in 1997 and awareness of the work the charity does for those who are affected by brain injuries has increased greatly over this time.

The Headway Centre is now seeing an increase in the number of referrals and the charity currently has over 150 survivors of brain injury registered with them as members.

Some members require occasional support, however up to 70 members access Headway’s services on the weekly basis. These services are an essential lifeline for members and also provide support and respite for families and carers who need it most and include neuro-physiotherapy, cognitive therapy and advocacy amongst many others.
